A Postgres client, a Docker desktop app, a webhook replay engine: one open-source dev tool after another, each announced right here.

I’m Ruhama Bekele, a software engineering student and developer. This channel is where I share my journey.

Sapphire Builds. is a build log where developer tools get announced and shipped in public. DBStudio, an AI-powered workspace for databases, went live in February 2026, and from late August came a run of open-source releases, from a Docker desktop client to a Go video-transcoding platform. Between launches come a TanStack DB write-up, advice on getting hired, and plenty of jokes.

    The 2025 roll call

The channel closed out 2025 with a roll call of builds: client apps like an AR e-commerce app and a ride-hailing app, plus personal projects such as SkillSwap and flow. The list ended with a teaser that the grand project would be launching soon. January 2026 opened with a newly built hymn app at wdase.com.

    DBStudio goes live

DBStudio, an AI-powered database workspace with a CLI that bridges local databases to the cloud, went live in February 2026. In May the channel took on the CodeCrafters build-your-own-git challenge in TypeScript to give DBStudio full version control, implementing only the git features relevant to it.

    Visual runtimes and P2P relays

October brought Vitra, an open-source visual runtime and version control system for UIs, and v0.2.4 added the VitraBench benchmark two days later. DBStudio Lite v0.2.0 introduced one-click peer-to-peer database sharing, and a follow-up let peers connect across different networks using go-iroh.
